Fibroproliferation and mast cells in the acute respiratory distress syndrome.

Thorax 53(10):823-9 (1998) PMID 10193367 PMCID 1745096

Mast cells (MCs), which are a major source of cytokines and growth factors, have been implicated in various fibrotic disorders. To clarify the contribution of MCs to fibrogenesis, lung tissue from patients with the acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) was examined during exudative through to fibroproliferative stages.

Exp Lung Res (2013) PMID 23647088

We investigated the effects of hypothermia on ROS-induced cell damage in human alveolar type II cells. A549 cells were exposed to H2O2 and cultured at different temperatures, namely, normthermia (37°C), mild hypothermia (34°C), or moderate hypothermia (32°C). Cell damage was measured using variou...

We investigated the effects of bortezomib activity in the presence of HL-associated fibroblasts (HL-AFs) and sCD40L. We found that co-cultivation with human HL-AFs or addition of sCD40L during bortezomib treatment protected cHL-cells from apoptosis and cytotoxicity and rescued the down-regulation of...

Clin Exp Optom (2013) PMID 23638722

MPS-A exposure caused the highest percentage of early and late necrotic cells for all exposure times and was significantly higher than other multipurpose solutions (p < 0.0001). After 10 minutes exposure, almost 40 per cent of cells in MPS-A but less than five per cent in MPS-B or MPS-C, were in lat...
