Molecular profiling of heart endothelial cells.

Audio, Transactions of the IRE Profess... 112(11):1601-11 (2005) PMID 16144998

Endothelial cells that line the vascular lumen can express cell-surface proteins that are specific to the endothelium of a particular tissue. In this study, we probed the heart vasculature for heart-specific endothelial markers by phage display.

We show that the protein known as p32 or gC1q receptor is the receptor for LyP-1. Various human tumor cell lines were positive for p32 expression in culture, and the expression was increased in xenograft tumors grown from the positive cell lines. Fluorescence-activated cell sorting analyses with ant...

The main aim of the ACuteTox project (part of the EU 6th Framework programme) is to demonstrate that animal tests for acute systemic toxicity can be replaced by alternative in vitro assays. In this project, data for 97 reference chemicals were collected in the AcuBase database, designed to handle de...

The ErbB-2 receptor, a member of the tyrosine kinase type 1 family of receptors, has been implicated in many human malignancies. The overexpression of ErbB-2 in cancer cells as well as its extracellular accessibility makes it an attractive target for the development of tumor-specific agents. In this...
