The incretin mimetic exenatide as a monotherapy in patients with type 2 diabetes.

Diabetes Technol Ther 9(4):317-26 (2007) PMID 17705687

  1. Effect of exenatide on beta cell function after islet transplantation in type 1 diabetes.

    Transplantation 83(1):24-8 (2007) PMID 17220786

Exenatide stimulates insulin secretion in islet transplant recipients. It reduces insulin dose in some patients and may delay the need to resume insulin in others. We did not find any evidence of a trophic effect on islets....

    Saudi J Gastroenterol 16(3):174-80 (2010) PMID 20616412

This study was designed to investigate the possible effect of exenatide (Glucagon like Peptide-1 receptor agonist) on liver injury (distant organ) induced by renal ischemia reperfusion (IR) in diabetic rats. In vivo renal IR was performed in both type 2 diabetic and normal rats. Each protocol compri...
  3. The use of exenatide in severely burned pediatric patients.

    Crit Care 14(4):R153 (2010) PMID 20701787

We hypothesized that exenatide would decrease plasma glucose levels post-burn to levels similar to those achieved with IIT, and reduce the amount of exogenous insulin administered. This open-label study included 24 severely burned pediatric patients. Six were randomized to receive exenatide, and 18...
