A reprogrammable mouse strain from gene-targeted embryonic stem cells.

Audio, Transactions of the IRE Professional ... 7(1):53-5 (2010) PMID 20010832

The derivation of induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) usually involves the viral introduction of reprogramming factors into somatic cells. Here we used gene targeting to generate a mouse strain with a single copy of an inducible, polycistronic reprogramming cassette, allowing for the induction of pluripotency in various somatic cell types. As these 'reprogrammable mice' can be easily bred, they are a useful tool to study the mechanisms underlying cellular reprogramming.

Spiritual beliefs are an important source of comfort and support to many cancer patients and their families, but they may play a particularly large role when the patient is a child. Parents facing a child's serious illness and possible death, and children themselves trying to make se...
  2. A role for Rhesus factor Rhcg in renal ammonium excretion and male fertility.

    Nature 456(7220):339-43 (2008) PMID 19020613

We show that this process is largely dependent on the Rhesus factor Rhcg. Mice lacking Rhcg have abnormal urinary acidification due to impaired ammonium excretion on acid loading-a feature of distal renal tubular acidosis. In vitro microperfused collecting ducts of Rhcg(-/-) acid-loaded mice show re...

We have evaluated the surrounding gastric mucosa of 414 gastric cancers for the presence of gastric pit dysplasia. We investigated its relationship with various clinicopathological and immunophenotypic features of gastric adenocarcinoma, as well as the severity and extent of any surrounding gastriti...
