[Problem of neuromuscular block reversion: neostigmine and sugammadex].

Anesteziol Reanimatol (2010) PMID 20524330

The review covers the history of neuromuscular block reversal. It states that indications for decurarization have been changed due to the extremely high rate of residual curarization even after the use of average-acting myorelaxants. The paper provides the pharmacological characteristics of sugammadex, a new selective relaxant-binding agent for aminosteroids (rocuronium and vecuronium) with the unique mechanism of action. It also gives data on the efficacy and safety of sugammadex versus anticholinesterase agents and estimates the prospects for its clinical application.

Sugammadex, a chemically modified gamma-cyclodextrin, was synthesized as a selective reversal agent for rocuronium, a steroidal neuromuscular blocking agent. The lipophilic cavity of sugammadex molecule encapsulates the lipophilic steroid rings of rocuronium and forms 1:1 host-guest complex. Additio...

We present a simple and versatile approach for fabricating terahertz lenses based on compression molding of micropowder polymer materials in a tabletop hydraulic press. To demonstrate the feasibility of this approach, a biconvex lens shape is calculated using a ray-tracing algorithm and lenses based...

given the relatively common prevalence of HCV-related chronic hepatitis among people with HIV, raltegravir might represent an important alternative option for a substantial number of patients who cannot be treated with protease inhibitors or NNRTI because of drug-related hepatic toxicity....
