Disparities in the utilization of high-volume hospitals for total hip replacement.

J Natl Med Assoc 103(1):31-5 (2011) PMID 21329244

Higher hospital surgical volumes have been associated with lower complication rates following total-hip replacement. The objective of this study was to identify the characteristics of patients who undergo total-hip replacement at high-volume hospitals and their differences from those who receive care at low-volume hospitals.

This article is about how the "SP theory of intelligence", and its realisation in the "SP machine", may, with advantage, be applied to the management and analysis of big data. The SP system has potential for the discovery of 'natural' structures in big data at various levels of abstraction, includi...

The boundary sheath of a low temperature plasma comprises typically only a small fraction of its volume but is responsible for many aspects of the macroscopic behavior. A thorough understanding of the sheath dynamics is therefore of theoretical and practical importance. This work focusses on the so...
