The effect of ezetimibe, administered alone or in combination with simvastatin, on lymphocyte cytokine release in patients with elevated cholesterol levels.

J Intern Med 271(1):32-42 (2012) PMID 21623963

Studies assessing the extra-lipid effects of ezetimibe have provided contrasting results. In the present study, we compared the effects of ezetimibe and simvastatin, administered alone or in combination, on the secretory function of human lymphocytes, systemic inflammation and endothelial function in subjects with elevated cholesterol levels.

    Pathol Int 57(8):461-73 (2007) PMID 17610470

Aerobes, including humans, are consistently exposed to oxidative stress by consuming oxygen. The biological significance of oxidative stress via reactive oxygen and nitrogen species consists of two stages: reversible redox regulation and irreversible oxidative molecular damage, which are sometimes i...

    Proc Natl Acad Sci U S A 105(3):985-90 (2008) PMID 18199835 PMCID 2242705

We have demonstrated recently that peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR)alpha deficiency in the host leads to overt inflammation that suppresses angiogenesis via excess production of thrombospondin (TSP)-1 and prevents tumor growth. Hence, we speculated that pharmacologic activation of P...

    Semin Oncol (2009) PMID 19963097

Clinical trials have validated the importance of mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) as a therapeutic target in patients with advanced renal cell carcinoma (RCC). The TORC1 complex controls translation of key proteins involved in cell proliferation and regulates the expression and stability of hypo...
