Access Carroll: community asthma education initiative.

J Am Acad Nurse Pract 23(7):357-60 (2011) PMID 21696484

Grant funding from the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Foundation was used to develop a community asthma education initiative for patients at Access Carroll. This initiative provided asthma education and supplies to current patients seen at the free healthcare clinic. While the focus was on patient education, the majority of funds were used to purchase supplies, including bronchodilators, spacer devices, nebulizers, and peak flow meters.

Routine administration of erythropoietin (EPO)-stimulating agents (ESAs) for the control of anemia has improved the quality of life of subjects with chronic kidney disease (CKD). However, a wide variation in individual response to ESA is often observed. The reasons for EPO resistance...
  2. The effects of bile duct obstruction on the biliary secretion of ciprofloxacin in piglets.

    Am J Gastroenterol 94(9):2408-11 (1999) PMID 10484000

Biliary secretion of ciprofloxacin is decreased in proportion to the increase of intrabiliary pressure. In obstruction, a markedly dilated common bile duct usually indicates high intrabiliary pressure, and thus biliary concentrations of antibiotics will be lower than expected. Hence, our observation...
