An improvement in isolation and preservation of clinical strains of Helicobacter pylori.

Trop Gastroenterol 32(1):36-40 (2011) PMID 21922854

Isolation of H. pylori from gastric mucosal biopsy specimens is a prerequisite for further studies addressing drug susceptibility testing, analysis and characterization of virulence factors, molecular epidemiology studying or other comparative studies. In this study, we used a modified enriched culture medium with short incubation time to improve the isolation rate of H. pylori from the clinical specimens.

We present a case of young woman who developed abnormal liver chemistries and neurological symptoms while on Ibuprofen. Her liver biopsy findings were suggestive of drug induced liver injury and cerebrospinal fluid analysis was suggestive of aseptic meningitis. Clinical and biochemical improvement w...

Standard therapy for multiple myeloma (MM) includes initial autologous hematopoietic cell transplantation (autoHCT1) but this is not curative and most patients will relapse. Role of salvage autoHCT2 or allogeneic HCT (alloHCT2) is undefined. MM patients who relapsed a...

We examined the virulence features of a hyper-motile derivative of A. baumannii strain ATCC 17978, which was found to display enhanced adherence to human pneumocytes and elevated levels of lethality towards Caenorhabditis elegans nematodes. Analysis of cellular lipids revealed modifications to the f...
